Paperwork...

If there's one thing the Yanks know how to do then it's paperwork! I've filled in my Form B and sent it off to Boston, along with a CV, two references, a photocopy of my passport and all past US visas. This is such that I can receive my DS-2019 and SEVIS number, and pay the SEVIS fee. I'm still waiting for these, but I do have my letter of appointment from Boston University (BU), which is good, given that I resigned from my job at Leicester the other day...

So, the DS-2019 had better get here before the 9th August, which is when I've got my 5 hour visa interview at the US embassy for my J-1 visa. In the mean time I've got to fill in and/or find, hold on let me check... (deep breath) visa interview confirmation letter, visa application fee receipt, DS-156,DS-157 including a list of all the countries I've been to in the last TEN years, DS-158, DS-2019, SEVIS fee receipt, passport, one photograph that meets the DS regulations, evidence of sufficient funds to live, evidence to show I intend to return to the UK, previous US visas, my CV, publication list, and appointment letter (gasp).

Once I've done all that I've got to rent my house out, sell my car, cancel my mobile, landline, broadband, electricity, and gas. Oh, and store all those possesions that I'm not taking to Boston (most of them).

In the mean time I've got to finish this paper that I've been writing for what seems like bloody ages now. So, with all that in mind I'm going to do the decent thing and go for a beer.
